About Us

As a local authority, there may be times when you need additional HR resource. Narrow Quay HR can offer local authorities a range of services complementing the exceptional legal support provided by VWV LLP. Our HR Consultants are experienced practitioners who have worked for many years as employment lawyers for the public sector and now specialise in HR.

At the core of our practice is a focus on the client as an individual, whatever the size of the organisation. Our combination of expertise, genuine teamwork and client commitment sets us apart, and that’s why we’re confident that we can deliver the best and most effective HR support to you.

Investigations and Hearings

Investigations into complex grievances or disciplinary matters can be time consuming and at times take key staff away from their core activities. Alternatively, you may not have the on-site HR resource available to carry out an investigation if one is required. Our HR Consultancy team are experienced in handling investigation work and will manage the matter sensitively and efficiently. We can:

• carry out investigations for you, attending on-site to interview witnesses and gather evidence

• prepare the investigation report for you

• attend disciplinary and grievance hearings as the investigating officer if required

Additionally, we can provide on-site support and guidance for your grievance, disciplinary appeal panels. We are also able to hear disciplinary, grievances and appeals for you as panel members if you do not have the necessary senior management team members available to carry this out, or if you need someone independent because of the nature of the issue in hand.

Support with one-off projects

At times, you will have projects which require on-site HR support or input. These may be disciplinary, capability or grievance processes which need active management, or may be larger processes such as restructuring or harmonisation of terms, resulting in the need for consultation meetings with staff. These projects can be difficult to manage in-house. We can handle them for you, attending on-site when needed.

Training Tailored to Your Needs

Narrow Quay HR offers you a range of training on HR topics such as:

• Unconscious bias
• Appraisal skills
• Interviewing and recruitment skills
• Essential HR for line managers

The training sessions can be tailored according to your needs. The sessions are interactive and practical, using voting buttons and real life scenarios to enable delegates to actively participate in the training.
